Consumer Digital Electronics

Course description

The NCTI Consumer Digital Electronics course teaches students the what, how, when, where, and why of customer premises equipment. Various video display technologies, including the standards that guide and mold them, content storage, video display settings, and customer premises equipment operation, provide the groundwork for the most popular home entertainment component, the television. As video technologies continue to expand beyond television into home entertainment and theater systems, the student needs to understand audio technology and its implementation and interface into that system. The course provides the student with instructions on troubleshooting a digital set-top box and which digital video interface to use between customer premises equipment for best picture resolution. Additionally, lessons introduce various parental control options for television programs and video games that may cause the customer to request a technician’s assistance. By taking this Consumer Digital Electronics course, the student will better understand the different components in the home theater system and how they interface and operate together.
